As former president (and current co-lead) of the Google Developer Student Club, I manage events, provide resources, and find experts in the field to educate students on current software and technology. We plan events where students learn by doing a project, so that they have something to take back with them. The club has amassed over 300 members over its 3 years of life so far at the University of Maryland. We manage a website where we post the events we are doing and planning. This website contains a log of the events completed in the past 2.5 years, along with descriptions of the event and pictures to go with them.
My experience as a president of a tech club has given me a lot to work on in terms of collaborating with a team and managing a club. Delegating tasks, problem-solving, and fostering ideas with my team has been very helpful. Organizing large events has also given me experience working with large companies, collaborators, and experts. This experience will be invaluable when working with large research groups within the university as well as outside.
